For HRV Tracker: Stress & Recovery

Effective Date: October 2, 2026 · Last Updated: October 2, 2026

Who We Are

HRV Tracker is published by an independent Apple platforms developer (referred to in this policy as "we", "our", or "us"). You can reach us by email at [email protected].

This Privacy Policy describes how the HRV Tracker: Stress & Recovery application for iPhone and Apple Watch, together with its widgets and complications (the "App"), handles information.

Short version: we do not collect personal data about you. The readings you log or import are health information, and they stay on your device, in Apple Health if you allow it, and, if iCloud sync is on, in your own private iCloud database, which we cannot read. The App has no accounts and contains no analytics or advertising.

Not a Medical Device

The App logs readings taken with your own Apple Watch. It does not measure anything with your iPhone, and the categories it shows come from public guidelines or your own history. It is not medical advice and cannot diagnose any condition. Talk to your doctor about what your numbers mean for you.

Information We Collect

We do not collect, store on our servers, sell, or share personal information from the App. In particular, we do not collect:

  • your readings or any other health data;
  • your name, the names of family profiles, or your contact details;
  • your notes, tags, medications, or reminders;
  • your location;
  • analytics or usage statistics;
  • crash reports;
  • cookies, advertising identifiers, or tracking data;
  • account or registration data, because the App has no accounts.

Because we do not collect personal data through the App, we do not maintain a user database. The App's App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected".

What You Enter and Where It Is Stored

The App stores the following in a database inside its own container on your device, shared only with the App's widgets through an Apple App Group:

  • Readings. Heart rate variability values, heart rate, "How do you feel?" check-ins, notes and tags, with the date, time and time zone of each reading, and whether it was entered by hand or imported from Apple Health.
  • Profiles. The name you give each profile, preferred units and targets.
  • Reminders. Labels, times and days for each reminder.
  • Settings. Appearance, quiet hours, whether iCloud and Apple Health sync are on, and whether onboarding is complete.

None of this is sent to us.

Apple Health

Apple Health access is optional and is requested only after you agree during onboarding or in settings. If you allow it, the App can read heart rate variability and heart rate. It reads samples saved by other apps and devices, such as your Apple Watch, so they appear in your log. It does not write anything to Apple Health.

Data obtained from Apple Health is used only to provide the App's features to you. It is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, never shared with third parties, and never sent to us. It may be stored in your private iCloud database if iCloud sync is on. You can change which data the App may read or write at any time in the Health app or in Settings > Privacy & Security > Health.

iCloud Sync

When iCloud sync is on (the default when you are signed in to iCloud), your App data is stored in the private database of your own iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit, so it can appear on your other devices signed in to the same Apple Account. Apple may send silent push notifications to the App so it knows when data changed on another device.

Data in your private iCloud database belongs to your Apple Account. We, as the developer, cannot access, read, or export it. You can turn sync off at any time in the App's settings, and manage or delete iCloud data in your device settings.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, reminders are scheduled as local notifications on your device. They are never sent through a server. You can change or revoke notification permission at any time in the system Settings.

Apple Watch, Widgets and Siri

  • Apple Watch. The Watch app shows your readiness and, with your permission, reads Apple Health on the watch. The iPhone and the watch exchange recent readings and settings directly using Apple's WatchConnectivity. This transfer is not sent to us.
  • Widgets. To show your latest reading and trend on the Home Screen, Lock Screen and watch face, the App writes a small summary to the shared App Group container on your device. Only the App and its widgets can read it.
  • Siri and Shortcuts. The App offers actions such as logging a reading and telling you the last one. When you use them, your request is handled by Apple's Siri and Shortcuts under Apple's privacy policy, and the App performs the action on your device.

Reports, Exports and Backups

  • PDF report and CSV export. Files are created on your device and handed to the system share sheet. Where they go next (your doctor, Mail, Files, a printer) is chosen by you. A report contains health information, so share it only with people you trust.
  • Automatic backups. The App keeps backup files of your data in its own container on your device and deletes older ones automatically. Restoring a backup reads one of these files.
  • Review prompt. After you share a report, the App may ask Apple to show the standard App Store rating dialog. Apple decides whether it appears.

Network Requests

The App may download a small static configuration file from our website, at most once a day. The file contains non-personal settings such as the length of the free chart history, the length of the free trial, and whether links to the other Vitals apps are shown. The request carries no personal data, no identifiers, and no health data. As with any web request, the server that hosts the file receives your IP address as part of the connection; we do not use it to identify you or combine it with any other data. If the request fails, the App uses built-in defaults.

Other network traffic is handled by Apple: App Store purchases through StoreKit, links to other Vitals apps on the App Store if you tap them, and, if it is on, iCloud sync through CloudKit.

Third Parties

Apple (App Store, StoreKit, HealthKit, iCloud and system services)

Pro subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are sold and managed by Apple through the App Store. Apple is the merchant of record. We do not see your payment details, Apple Account, billing address, or full name. The App receives from Apple only a confirmation of which purchase, if any, is active. Apple's own privacy policy applies to App Store purchases, subscription management, Apple Health, iCloud and CloudKit, notifications, Siri and Shortcuts, widgets, Apple Watch, the share sheet, and other system services.

No analytics or advertising SDKs

The App does not include any third-party code. There are no analytics, crash reporting, advertising, attribution, or tracking SDKs. Outgoing links to Apple's standard end user license agreement, the App Store and this Privacy Policy open only at your request.

Purchases and Pro

  • The free tier includes unlimited readings and notes, Apple Health sync, a 30-day chart, one reminder, CSV export and one profile.
  • Pro adds longer charts and comparisons, the PDF report, tags and medications, unlimited reminders, widgets and Watch complications, family profiles and backup restore.
  • Pro is offered as a monthly subscription, a yearly subscription with a 7-day free trial, or a one-time lifetime purchase.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, including the free trial.
  • Purchases are billed and managed by Apple through the App Store. You can restore purchases in the App and manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple Account settings.
  • We do not store, see, or process your payment information.

Children

The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and it is not enrolled in the App Store Kids category. A parent or caregiver may keep a family profile for a child; that data stays on the parent's device and private iCloud like all other App data. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have privacy rights under laws such as the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), and similar laws. Because we do not collect or hold personal data from the App, we have no personal data to provide, correct, delete, or transfer in response to such a request. You still control the App's data:

  • edit or delete any reading, profile or reminder inside the App;
  • export your readings at any time as CSV;
  • change or revoke Apple Health access in the Health app or Settings;
  • turn iCloud sync off in the App, and manage or delete iCloud data in your device settings;
  • delete all local App data by uninstalling the App (data saved to Apple Health stays in Health until you delete it there);
  • cancel subscriptions through Settings > Apple Account > Subscriptions;
  • contact us with privacy questions at [email protected].

California residents: we do not "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA.

Security

The App relies on security features built into iOS and watchOS, including app sandboxing, data protection for files on your device, Apple Health's encrypted storage, an App Group container shared only with the App's own widgets, Apple's protection of iCloud data, and Apple's StoreKit transaction verification. No method of electronic storage can be guaranteed to be perfectly secure. However, the App does not transmit your health data to us, because we have no servers that receive it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect new App functionality or legal requirements. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top. The basic commitment that the App does not collect your personal data will not change without clear notice.
